Course overview

With a maximum of 8 participants, this online workshop is highly practical and interactive. There are multiple opportunities to practice and we follow each exercise with a feedback session.

You will be taught a constructive and supportive feedback model which you can trial to coach each other.

This course is split over two consecutive part-days:
Day 1 – 12pm-4pm
Day 2 – 10am-2pm

What you'll learn

  • Use a logical, easy-to-follow training structure
  • Understand how to meet the learning needs of participants
  • Learn and practice tools and techniques for effective training delivery

Course modules

  1. Creating a supportive learning environment – online or face-to-face
  2. Setting up your training so everyone knows what to expect
  3. Using stories and examples to bring ideas to life
  4. Creating simple, effective visual aids without resorting to “death-by-PowerPoint”
  5. Managing your participants’ energy levels and attention span with appropriate state changes
  6. Keeping the training varied and interesting, and your participants engaged
  7. Applying simple ways to test your audience’s understanding of your material
  8. Setting up, running, and debriefing training activities
  9. Encouraging active participation in group discussions

Further Information

This course is delivered fully online through a combination of live Zoom sessions and self-paced learning activities. Live sessions are interactive, combining presentations, group discussion, and practical exercises. You’ll have access to an online learning platform for readings, activities, and resources. Group size is limited to ensure active participation, and session recordings are made available for review.

You will receive a digital certificate of attendance and a Wellington Uni-Professional digital badge. These include the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours completed, making them suitable for recognition by professional organisations and employers.
