Course overview

This applied and interactive two-day course will enable you to create favourable outcomes through influencing and persuasion. The course uses the science of our brains together with practical tools and techniques to give a unique set of ways to work with and influence each other. As part of this course, you will receive a personal DiSC workplace profile.

What you'll learn

  • A greater understanding of your own influencing style and how to moderate it to suit specific situations
  • Practice using tools and techniques to position ideas in a compelling and persuasive manner
  • Understand the role of the brain when influencing others
  • You’ll examine frameworks for planning an effective influence strategy
  • You’ll test the skills learnt in your own environment, with self-reflection & learning

Course modules

Day 1

  1. Understanding the field of influencing
  2. Influencing skills – how to build effective relationships quickly, using verbal and nonverbal cues
  3. Building sustainable rapport with individuals and groups
  4. Managing emotions – our own and other people’s responses
  5. Practical tools for application and testing during the week before Day 2

 

Day 2

  1. The role of values
  2. Face to face & Online Influence
  3. Flexibility of responses to suit the influence situation*
  4. Advanced influencing techniques for high stakes situations
  5. Bringing it all together – practical applications in your working life

Further Information

This course is delivered as a full-day in-person workshop at our Wellington venue. It includes a mix of facilitator-led sessions, small-group exercises, and whole-group discussion. Group size is limited to 16 participants to ensure meaningful interaction and personal feedback. Morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea are provided to support networking and collaboration.

You will receive a digital certificate of attendance and a Wellington Uni-Professional digital badge. These include the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours completed, making them suitable for recognition by professional organisations and employers.
