Mastering Intercultural Competency

Develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to operate in a multicultural world.

This course is designed to build on the foundational knowledge acquired in the Foundations of Intercultural Competency course, offering a deeper exploration of cultural, cross-cultural, and intercultural theory and application. The course aims to equip participants with advanced skills and insights to foster inclusivity, and mutual respect among diverse groups of people in both professional and personal settings. Delivered as a 3-hour online synchronous session, the course is targeted at individuals who have completed the introductory course and want to further enhance their knowledge, skills, and awareness. Through lectures, small group discussions and case studies, participants will develop an action plan addressing specific intercultural issues within their work and/or personal lives.

• Learn about a variety of theories and frameworks for understanding cultural dynamics and their implications.
• Explore a range of techniques for effectively resolving intercultural conflicts and leading diverse teams.
• Develop case studies and action plans that address real-world intercultural challenges and apply their knowledge and skills to these issues.
• Learn about a range of cultural frameworks and models that can be used to understand cultural dynamics.
• Develop an understanding of techniques for managing and resolving intercultural conflicts and exercising leadership in multicultural contexts.
• Demonstrate effective communication strategies through response to case studies and interactivities.
• Propose action plans to address real-world intercultural challenges.
