Trish Lui
Trish is a highly experienced learning and development consultant, facilitator and coach, with approximately 20 years’ experience. She works with a wide range of people and organisations across all sectors, mainly in New Zealand, and some off-shore too.
Her passion for life-long learning has taken many forms. As a young person she interrupted her university studies to travel, and travel has continued to be a constant theme in her life. Trish returned to academic study as a mature student and absolutely loved it. She completed her degree part-time, while working full-time, with three young children – challenging and exhilarating.
Trish has a BA in Education and English Literature from Victoria University of Wellington, a Certificate in Te Ara Reo Māori Level 4 from Te Wananga of Aotearoa, and is a Member of the New Zealand Association of Positive Psychology (NZAPP). She is a Certified Organisational Coach, Level Two, IECL.
One of the biggest learnings in her life has been through her marriage to her husband Holona, who is New Zealand-born Niuean. A cross-cultural marriage and family have taught her many things – lots about herself and lots into the rich world of another culture. This has led to Holona and Trish working together in a specialist part of their business on cross-cultural communication and effectiveness.
This also extends to her wider interest in diversity and inclusion, especially the development of women.
Trish uses many tools and frameworks including: the Gallup StrengthsFinder, Team Management Profile, Appreciative Inquiry, 360-degree feedback tools, TetraMap and the Lominger Leadership Architect® suite. She is also accredited in the EXCELL Intercultural Skills Programme through Victoria University and Griffith University, and is a CultureActive (intercultural communication tool) Licenced NZ Partner.
Her previous roles have included Programme Director for the New Zealand College of Management. The College ran residential leadership and management development programmes for senior managers. She also had the privilege of working as one of the business facilitators for Outward Bound for a spell – a truly life-changing experience.
Holona and Trish have three adult children who have inherited their passion for learning and travel. They have had exciting trips to visit them in various locations around the world: London, Berlin, Amsterdam and Sydney.
Trish loves being outdoors and keeping fit and is a former runner, who is now a keen walker.
