
Sarah Howell
Sarah is an experienced secondary mathematics and statistics teacher, curriculum leader, and university lecturer. She has taught introductory statistics and mathematics in universities in Aotearoa NZ and the UK and has taught professional knowledge for mathematics education as part of the BA and the secondary student teacher workshops as part of the Initial Teacher Training workshops at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington.
Sarah has developed curriculum-aligned resources to support both specialist and non-specialist teachers of mathematics, statistics, and numeracy. She has a passion for equity in participation, achievement, and pathways in mathematics education and supporting students who have previously had negative experiences when learning mathematics to develop positive mathematics learner identities.
She is currently undertaking her PhD into the NCEA Change Programme in mathematics and statistics.
