Melissa Hare
Melissa first came into contact with the power of coaching and importance of team dynamics while at an Outward-Bound Leadership course, she watched the two team coaches encourage, motivate, challenge and support participants through the programme. It was life changing and Melissa decided there and then that she wanted to do what they did. To this end, her career and training since Outward-Bound has been focused on achieving this goal and she now has ten years’ experience working as a facilitator, consultant, and coach, mainly in the public sector though she also does pro bono work with NGO’s.
Melissa’s approach is to build a learning relationship with people, to identify and achieve goals by asking questions to stimulate new or different thinking and action. Melissa has a strong belief in people’s potential and looks at the whole system and environment that the team or person is part of. She sees her role as a ‘guardian’ to create a safe space for people to ‘think about thinking’, so they can come up with solutions to move forward. Melissa’s style is inclusive, insightful, energetic and knowledgeable.
When working with teams, Melissa designs workshops to shift thinking, focus on team dynamics and outputs relevant to what the team has been commissioned to achieve. Her design is based on current research and frameworks, it is experiential with space for reflection and dialogue. If appropriate, she can work with the team on an on-going basis, as team coach, to implement the actions and goals. Melissa is accredited in diagnostic tools; Belbin, HBDI and DiSC.
