
Brooke Trenwith
Brooke is trained Secondary teacher and has taught early childhood through to university level, been a gifted coordinator and an enhanced learning teacher. She was also an assistant director of an English Language School in Taiwan, responsible for Curriculum Design and Staff Professional Development. Brooke was project leader of the Te Toi Tupu contract, helping schools develop robust, transparent and cohesive approached to gifted education and create a “rising tide” of achievement through whole class provision.
She has supported both Special schools and mainstream schooling and she herself identifies as neurodiverse. Brooke is multi – exceptional, that is gifted + dyslexic and sits on the autism spectrum.Brooke is a former President of the New Zealand Association for Gifted Children, a former New Zealand representative on the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children, and an MoE accredited education consultant. Her online courses of strengths-based approaches to neurodiversity, leadership, coaching and trauma informed practice are currently being used by thousands of educators and whānau across the motu.
Brooke’s specialisations include giftedness, inclusive education (including Culturally and Linguistically Diverse students, autism and trauma informed practices), relationship-based learning/cultural responsiveness, coaching and change management, thinking skills, digital fluency, innovative learning and collaborative practice. She has participated on Ministerial Reference Groups and is currently on the Ministerial Gifted Education Expert Group and the Te Mātaiaho Curriculum Voices Group.
