Effective mentoring

After six months of development, in partnership with the Post Primary Teachers Association Te Wehengarua, the first cohort of the Effective mentoring practices for secondary teachers in Aotearoa New Zealand micro-credential gets underway on 14 February. In response to feedback from teachers this course was designed and developed to provide the missing need identified by the PPTA – for secondary teachers in leadership roles to have the opportunity to undertake formal professional development in mentoring others. Participants will undertake 50 hours of learning through a range of experiences and tasks over 12 weeks. The content has been developed by associate professor Kate Thornton from Te Herenga Waka-Victoria University of Wellington’s School of Education in collaboration with a group of experienced school mentors. Seven cohorts are planned to be delivered over 2022 and eight in 2023. To find out more about this course click here.
