Course modules
Day 1:
- Mini design exercise – Appropriate for those who do not consider themselves practitioners. Through this exercise we highlight the fundamental elements of a human-centred design process.
- Process and mindsets – We look at the process, what is it, and the theory behind it. We’ll also explore design’s secret ingredient, the mindset. “It’s not what you do but how you do it that’s important.”
- Gaining customer empathy – Take a look at the tools and techniques for gathering information from ‘customers’.
- Making sense of information – The afternoon session makes sense of the information we gathered in the morning. We’ll walk you through a 5-step process for unlocking and uncovering core needs and key belief systems (human insights).
- Your organisation – Spend time understanding how what you have learned can be taken back to your organisation.
- Wrap – Share what you have learned and create action points to solidify learning.
Day 2:
- Refresher of Day 1 – Kick off the day by reviewing everything learned in Day 1.
- Idea generation – Gain an understanding of how to use information about our customer to generate as many ideas as possible.
- Prototyping and testing – The afternoon session will look at how to build a prototype and then how to test it with our customer.
- Presenting Projects – Over the two days we’ll be working on a project. Following testing of our concepts, we’ll bring it all back together. Storytelling methods are included.
