KAIAKO
Phoebe Sullivan
He mokopuna ahau ki Te Tai Tokerau, te moana o te Waitematā me te awa o Waikato. He uri ahau nō Te Aūpouri, Ngai Takoto, Ngāti Whatua ki Kaipara, Ngāti Whatua ki Ōrākei, me Tainui-Waikato hoki. I am a graduate of Te Herenga Waka, Victoria University of Wellington with a Bachelors of Law, Māori Resource Management and Māori Studies. It was at university where I found my passion for Māori intergenerational wealth and circular economy frameworks, with a special interest in iwi, hapū and whanau social investment. This has led me opportunities within professional development where I have been a mentor, tutor and kaiako for the past three years. As a second language learner and part of a whanau currently on our revitalisation journey, I have found it increasingly important to hold space where we can normalise te reo Māori and te ao Māori. Being a kaiako whilst on my own te reo Māori journey has driven my purpose to reconnect to my culture and whanau. I hope that through my mahi I can inspire others to do the same.
